John Scott Service Number 8857 Rifleman Royal Irish Rifles, 2nd Battalion
John was born in 1888 of parents William and Maggie Scott of Euston Street, Belfast. They had 6 children namely John, Agnes, William, Maggie, Clark and Isabella. Sometime there-after they moved to 258 Woodstock Road, Belfast.
John embarked on 13 August 1914 and was killed in action on 20 September 1914. He is remembered with honour at the La Ferte-Sous-Jouarre Memorial Cemetery, France.
His sister Maggie received a War Gratuity of £5.
John’s name is included on the Presbyterian Roll of Honour.
