​James Hodgen      Service Number 3481 Private Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers 1st Battalion ​ ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

​James was born in 1896 of parents James and Rebecca Hodgen, 118 Castlereagh Road, Belfast.  He is the second eldest of 4 children namely John, James, Margaret and Jamiah.  In 1911 Mr Hodgen was recorded as a printer compositor whilst James was a plater’s boy.
 
James initially served in the Balkans before transferring to France.  He was killed in action on 20 October 1918 and is buried at the Tyne Cot Memorial, Zonnebeke, Belgium.

James’ mother received a War Gratuity of £24 and 10 shillings.
 
James’ name is included on the Presbyterian Roll of Honour.
