Francis Hanna Service Number 15797 Private Royal Irish Fusiliers 6th Battalion
Francis was born in Belfast in 1879. His parents were Hugh and Mary Hanna from Queenstown, Ireland. According to the 1911 census Francis was married to Elizabeth Hanna and they had 2 children, namely James and Thomas and they lived at 65 Dundela Street. Sometime later they had moved to 67 Church Street East, Newtownards Road. Belfast.
Francis enlisted in 1915 and was killed in action at Gallipoli on 17 August 1915. He is buried at Portianos Military Cemetery, on the Greek island of Limnos.
His widow Elizabeth received a War Gratuity of £3.
Francis’ name is included on the Presbyterian Roll of Honour.
