​Edward was born on 26 January 1903 of parents John and Ellen Pollen, 60 Portallo Street, Belfast.  They had 7 children namely John, Lizzie, Maggie, Nellie, Robert, Edward and Alexander.
 
Edward was posted to HMS Impregnable but died on 22 October 1918 aged 15 years from an illness.  Edward is buried at Plymouth (Ford Park) Cemetery, Plymouth, England.
 
Edward is the youngest member of the congregation to die during the war.
 
Edward’s name is included on the Presbyterian Roll of Honour.
