Arthur was born in 1881, only child of Jonathan and Agnes A Bothwell, Derry, Dromara, County Down. Before the war Arthur was a general labourer and lived at 10 Ashfield Street, Ormeau, Belfast.
He was married in 1907 to Mary Bothwell nee Bell and had 2 children Agnes Annie and Elinor Jane.
Arthur enlisted on 11 July 1915 and served in the Balkans where on 13 September 1916 died of wounds aged 35 years. He is buried at Salonika (Lembet Road) Military Cemetery, approximately 2KM north of Thessaloniki city centre, Greece.
His wife Mary received a War Gratuity of £8 and 10 shillings.
Arthur’s name is included on the Presbyterian Roll of Honour.
